Parlays are the sports betting industry's most effective tool for separating you from your money. Sportsbooks love them. Social media loves them. Your bankroll does not.
Sharp Picks will never generate a parlay. Here's why.
The Math Against You
A two-leg parlay at standard -110 juice requires you to win both bets to collect. If each leg has a 54% true probability, your parlay has a 29.2% chance of winning. The book pays you as if it's 27.8%. That's a 1.4% edge to the house on every two-leg parlay - worse than your edge on either individual bet.
Add a third leg and the house edge widens further. By the time you're building five and six-leg parlays - the kind that go viral on social media - you're playing a lottery with a 25%+ house edge. The sportsbook's margin on a six-leg parlay is higher than most casino table games.
The Social Media Effect
Parlays go viral because they produce dramatic outcomes. A $10 bet that pays $850 makes for a great screenshot. What you don't see is the 84 times that same person lost $10. The expected value of that $850 ticket was about -$40.
This is the same selection bias that makes touts look profitable. The wins are public, the losses are private, and the math is invisible.
What We Do Instead
Sharp Picks generates flat-stake, single-game signals. One pick at a time, each with its own independent edge. If you want to bet three signals in one night, bet them as three separate bets. Your expected value is the same, but your variance is dramatically lower and the house takes less off the top.
Boring? Yes. Profitable? That's the plan.
